Tithing Part 1-4 Nuggets of Truth from Malachi

Part 1

The last Book in the Old Testament section of our Bible holds many precious nuggets of truth that so many people today never realized. They do not realize these nuggets are in Malachi for two reasons,..

1. Their Pastor’s do not tell them these nuggets of truth are in Malachi.

2. They themselves do not study the Bible as they should, but instead allow their Pastor’s to teach them falsely.

Let us look at just a few of the nuggets we can find in the pages of the Book of Malachi, shall we?

a) The storehouse Malachi is speaking of is attached to the Temple in Jerusalem.

b) My local New Covenant Church is not the storehouse Malachi was speaking of.

c) Malachi is not saying to tithe your monetary income to God’s House.

d) Malachi was speaking to a people living under the Mosaic/Levitic Law.

e) Malachi could not have been speaking of any other kind of tithe than that which was required by Mosaic/Levitic Law, i.e.; a tithe of agricultural crops, flocks and herds.

f) Malachi 1:6; & 2:1 reveal that Malachi was speaking to the corrupt Priest’s in Malachi 3:6-12.

g) The tithes and offerings had been stolen by the Priest’s,… not by the congregation.

h) When Pastor’s use Malachi to teach a monetary tithe, they are guilty of handling the word of God deceitfully.

i) The Priest’s of Israel were guilty of despising God’s name because they exchanged the best animals for lame and blind animals

j) Pastor’s are guilty of despising God’s name because they have exchanged His commanded agricultural tithes for monetary tithes.

k) In doing things their own way instead of God’s way, the Priest’s of Israel were robbing God of His authority in their lives.

l) In doing things their own way instead of God’s way, the Priest’s of God had robbed the nation of Israel of God’s blessing.

m) In teaching their own way instead of God’s way, Pastor’s today are guilty of robbing God of His authority in their lives.

n) In teaching their own way instead of God’s way, Pastor’s today are guilty of robbing God of His authority in the lives of their congregations.

o) In doing things their own way instead of God’s way, Pastor’s are guilty of robbing their congregations of God’s blessing.

p) When Malachi promised that God would open the windows of Heaven, Malachi was speaking clouds giving rain to the land of Israel so that plants could grow

q) The devourer that Malachi was speaking of was the locust.

There are many, many more precious and wonderful nuggets written within the four chapters of the Book of Malachi. I encourage you to take time to study this Book and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal them to you.

God is Not Impressed

by Ronald W Robey

(written May 10, 2019)

So many today are bewitched by deceitful preachers into believing that God requires them to give ten percent of their monetary wages, work bonuses, monetary gifts, and yes…even their Social Security Disability Checks to their local church.

Such a command is to be found nowhere in the pages of their Bibles.  Pastors are using verses that applied to Old Testament Israel alone and bringing them into a culture that was never commanded by God to tithe at all.

Yes, God did say to tithe in the Bible.  However, when God said to tithe, He was speaking to the nation of Israel…not to Gentile nations.  Further, the tithe God said was to be observed was agricultural…not monetary.  Even though the children of Israel had money, they were never told by God that they had to give a tenth of it to the House of God.

The fact is, God said the tithe of the congregation was to go to the Levites…not to the House of God.  According to the Law, the congregation was not even to approach the House of God with their tithes.

Numbers 18:21-22  And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.

Nehemiah 10:29  They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

Nehemiah 10:37-38  And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

The apostle Paul in his epistle to the saints at Galatia, wrote:

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” (Galatians 3:10)

Our modern church congregations have “entered into a curse.”  Because of their pastor’s deceit, they have agreed to obey God’s command to tithe, (thereby placing themselves under the jurisdiction of the Mosaic Law)…but are not tithing what God said was to be tithed.  Nor have they giving the tithe to whom God said tithes are to be given.

As long as they are submitting to the ungodly doctrine of a required monetary tithe, they can look forward to being judged by the Law when they stand before Christ and not by Grace.

In his epistle to the scattered Jews, the apostle James wrote:

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)

Therefore, you may be “tithing”, but it is just as if you haven’t tithed at all.  Why?  Because you are not obeying the tithe ordinance in its entirety.  You tithe, but you tithe money instead of grains, oils, and wines.  You tithe, but you give the tithe to Gentile preachers instead of to Levites.

God is not impressed.  It is as if you are rebellious to God’s decrees concerning His holy tithe.  And rebellion is just as abhorrent to God as the sin of witchcraft.

Truth Gleaned from Malachi

by Ronald W Robey

(written May 13, 2019)

Malachi 3:8-10  Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

People can say they believe Malachi 3:8-10 from now until the catching away.  However, if they are tithing money to their local religious institution in response to Malachi 3:10 …they have no true understanding of what Malachi 3:8-10 is saying.

1.  Malachi was not speaking of monetary tithes.

a)  The “tithes” Malachi was referring to were the tithes required by Mosaic Law. (Mal. 3:7)

b)  The tithes required by Mosaic Law were to come from agricultural increase…not monetary income. (Lev. 27:30,32)

c)  To teach that Malachi is saying that ten percent of one’s monetary income is to be given to the House of God is to handle the word of God deceitfully.

2.  Malachi was not speaking of local religious institutions in the world today.

a)  The “House” Malachi was speaking of was the Temple in Jerusalem. (Deut. 12:10-11; 2 Chr. 6:5-6)

b)  The “storehouse” Malachi was speaking of were chambers attached to the outer walls of the Temple in Jerusalem. (1 Ki. 6:6)

c)  To teach that Malachi 3 is speaking of a local religious institution in the world today is to handle the word of God deceitfully.

3.  Malachi was not speaking to the congregation

a)  Malachi was speaking to the Priests of Israel. (2:1)

b)  To teach that Malachi 3 is speaking to the congregation is to handle the word of God deceitfully.

4.  The “curse” in Malachi 3:9 is not loss of jobs, poor health, doctor’s visits, mechanical problems, marriage problems, family quarrels, home repairs, et.al.

a)  God had shut the windows of Heaven so that rain did not fall on the land of Canaan.

b)  God allowed the locusts to attack what meager crops were growing.

c)  God allowed the food to fall from the vine before it could mature enough for consumption.

d)  To teach that “cursed with a curse” in Malachi 3:10 is referring to anything other than famine, pestilence, and unripened fruit is to handle the word of God deceitfully.

5.  The “blessing” Malachi 3:10 is not job security, perfect health, no mechanical problems, marriage bliss, family happiness, house stability, et.al.

a)  God would open the windows of Heaven, sending rain to water the land of Canaan.

b)  God would rebuke the locusts so that they would not attack crops.

c)  God would prevent food from falling from the vine prematurely.

d)  To teach that “blessing” in Malachi 3:10 is speaking of anything other than rain, safety from pestilence, and an abundant ripe harvest is to handle the word of God deceitfully.

2 Corinthians 4:1-2  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Part 4

Disannulled

by Ronald W Robey

(written May 11, 2019)

The first time the word “commandment” is used in the Epistle to the Hebrews is found here:

Hebrews 7:5  And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

The next time the word “commandment” is found in the Epistle to the Hebrews is found here:

Hebrews 7:18  For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

Connect the dots.  The command to take tithes has been disannulled…cancelled.  And if the command to take tithes has been disannulled, then the command to give tithes (which, by the way, was given to the nation of Israel…not to the New Covenant church) has also been disannulled.

The command to the sons of Levi to take tithes was for their service in the House of God, i.e Tabernacle/Temple.

The Old Testament Tabernacle ceased to exist when the Temple in Jerusalem became the House of God.  That Temple was destroyed in AD 70.  It is no more.

Since there is no more a Temple for the sons of Levi to do service in, there is no more a need to give them tithes.
